Is Pakistan a Victim of Impressions or of Reality?
Just came across a very interesting and even surprising news piece in the Telegraph.co.uk
The news article reads “Pakistan’s Asif Ali Zardari faces army rebellion over India détente”. The opening lines of the article read “According to sources close to Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Kiyani, senior officers are alarmed at the president’s plans to divert troops and aircraft defending Pakistan’s border with India and deploy them in a new offensive against Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants.”
Though I am not very sure that the threat to Zardari’s Presidency is as real as projected in this particular article, the news nevertheless confirms that “impressions dictate reality”. The difference of opinion between the political leadership and military personnel of the western countries is hailed as the gift of democracy. But for countries like Pakistan, such difference of opinion creates the impression of an impending military coup. Pakistan is no doubt facing several challenges but the international media often over-reacts to developments in the country.

European propaganda against Pakistan is not a new thing. Every day we come across a new story about Pakistan in the western Media. The report by telegraph Co.uK is also the part of anti-Pakistan campaign as there are no differences between COAS Ashfaq Pervez kiani and democratic Govt. Govt of Pakistan is very much mature and has learnt with experience; similarly the incumbent military chief is one of the mature leaders and realizes the repercussions of any attempt to derail the democratic process. The news regarding difference among Govt and military are just a part of propaganda campaign. Swat operation is clear example that military has no differences with incumbent democratic Govt. Furthermore military Chief Ashfaq Pervez Kiani is democracy liking and he has reiterated several times that democratic process in the country should prevail. Enough of conspracy theories. We as Pakistanis should think in a positive manner and should not let these conspracy theorists succeed in their efforts to destabilise Pakistan
@moonlightmoon25:
Are you aware of when Kayani is going to retire? Knowing that he would be retiring soon, why would he indulge in destabilizing the government? He can retire with grace just by posing himself as pro-democratic. However, the reality is the military is still in control. Otherwise how can it raise such a hue and cry over Zardari’s remarks/moves?
You don’t need conspiracy theorists to destabilise Pakistan when your Army itself is sufficient to destabilise it(ever wondered what is the source of the problems that Pakistan is facing today?).
Since you don’t seem to like propaganda campaign, have you ever made an attempt to question the propaganda by your Army regarding the threat from India? Have you ever questioned the propaganda by your rulers regarding the partition of your country in 1971? Have you ever questioned the genocide of Bangladeshis committed by your army? Think outside of your army-created shell and browse internet and you will know the true colors of your Army which has made Pakistan,a land supposed to be Pure, as a haven for terrorists and with a begging bowl.
